For three years and two months my sister battled breast cancer until she lost her fight. She left behind two boys under the age of 15. The word cancer turns my stomach upside down, and it’s left tremendous wreckage on our family.

One thing that I learned about cancer is that it’s extremely unpredictable. My sister would have so much energy one day and her mood was upbeat and positive. The next day she was really down and sore. Those struggling with cancer will have good days and bad days and try not to take the mood swings personal.

I miss my sister every day, but I find comfort in remembering the great times we had together. I live each day as it comes and try not to take anything for granted. I see my sister in her two boys, and I find comfort just by being around them. Cherish the good times with your loved ones while you can! -Joyce, OH
